Beginner's Guide to Eco-Renovation
This is the book we needed during the eco renovation of our 1901 Victorian end of terrace. It didn’t exist for us, so I’ve gathered together what I know and learned what I didn’t know so I could write it for you. With professionals on board to ensure I’m getting it right, it’s been very exciting. Pretty demanding too as I’ve stretched and mangled my brain – breathability comes to mind – but I’ve had a great time!
You can buy the ebook or a paperback here or order from any good bookshop.
This isn’t a ‘How to…’ book. It’s a laypersons overview, so you can understand the basics, get your head around the main issues and define the questions you need to ask your providers.
If you have your own home and you’re going to renovate or retrofit anyway, you can become part of the solution to our climate crisis. On the way, you can also reduce your household bills – we cut our energy consumption by 75% – and that includes charging the car.
It’s a fascinating subject, one you get into it – learning how houses work and what will make them more energy efficient. You’ll end up knowing your home really well, with a real sense of pride about the contribution you’ve made to the environment.
